UK-based crosslinked foam maker Zotefoams has taken a 30% stake in a new company set up by microcellular foam moulding technology company MuCell to develop extrusion applications.
Zotefoams has paid $3m (€1.9m) for its holding in MuCell Extrusion and has an option to take full control of the subsidiary in the future.
The UK company will install a commercial scale MuCell line at its UK site and will become a licensee to develop microcellular foams for certain advanced materials.
“The structure of this deal allows Zotefoams to operate under the MuCell licence to offer thin rolls of foam of a high consistency with no chemical agents which has the potential to open significant new markets for us,” says Zotefoams mananging director David Stirling.
