German component moulder EKT expands in Czech Republic

Eifler Kunststoff-Technik (EKT), a German technical component injection moulder, has plans to expand its production capacity with the construction of a new plant in the Czech Republic.

The producer of plastic parts for household appliances at Bad Salzuflen in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, is set to build an 8,500 square metre production hall on an 18,000 square metre site at Litovel near Olomouc in the east of the Czech Republic.

Driven to locate closer to its main customers’ manufacturing plants, EKT expects the new unit to install 21 new injection moulding machines at the Czech site which is due to create up to 70 new jobs.Its new facility, due to be completed by the autumn of 2016, is situated closer to plants operated by the processor’s main clients including Miele, Siemens and Hella, according to EKT’s chief executive Volker Scheffels.

This project is part of a major investment programme in support of EKT’s business growth. The firm is already expanding its German base, expanding the plant’s production and warehousing area to 11,000 square metres, with 3,200 square metres of additional buildings set to be complete by January next year.

Expansion at the Bad Salzuflen site will provide extra space production space for 14 more injection moulding machines. Currently, EKT operates 24 press lines with a clamping force of up to 650 tonnes.

The German processor, which expects its annual sales total for this year to jump by 23% to €26m, is investing now in the expectation of continuing high growth rates in the next few year.

EKT is a subsidiary of the private German industrial group Dieter Eifler based in Nohfelden-Eckelhausen in northern Saarland. Employing 1,100 overall, it has plants in Hungary and Romania as well as Germany, manufacturing assembled cable sets as well as plastic components for home appliances and the automotive sector.
