Mecalit invests €3m at Bulgarian plant

German plastic parts maker Mecalit has invested some €3m with the aim to set up a new production line at its factory in Bulgaria which makes plastic parts for the automotive industry, reports local news site SEENews.com.

Under the plan, the components will be manufactured for a number of major car makers. These are to include Renault-Nissan, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen Group. The new equipment has been put into operation, according to Krasen Krastev, the subsidiary’s managing director.

Mecalit says it makes its output with the use of various plastics. These include PE, PP, PS, ABS, POM, PA, PPE and others. The German company operates a factory in the Kuklen industrial and commercial zone, in Bulgaria’s southern part. In addition to the Bulgarian market, Mecalit owns production facilities located in Lichtenau, in Germany’s south-west, and ?ód?, in central Poland. The company’s plants are fitted with injection moulding machines enabled with a clamping force of between 15 and 1,300 tonnes, according to figures from Mecalit. Set up in 1984, the German company says it offers customised development of complex components and assemblies made of different material combinations, mould flow studies, prototyping, development and procurement of injection moulding dies, and batch production. Mecalit also supplies its output to the home appliances industry.
