Silesia Plastic injection moulding JV
Leading global car interiors maker Grupo Antolin is continuing to consolidate its international operations following the group’s successful acquisition of the Magna Interiors business last year.
The Burgos, Spain-based group is understood to be planning to take full control of Silesia Plastic, the plastics injection enterprise in south west Poland that it owns jointly with another Spanish company, Industrias Alegre.
Silesia Plastic was launched in 2006 as a 50:50 joint venture between the two Spanish firms to set up a moulding base close to the customer. Production at the Silesia plant in the town of Strzelin, began on moulded plastic components for the Ford B299 Fiesta project two years later.
Since then, it has manufactured parts for a series of car assembly projects for Peugeot Citro?n, Volvo, Renault and Hyundai, as well as for Ford.
The 7,800 square metre plant operates 31 injection moulding machines with clamping forces ranging from 100 - 1,200 tonnes. The firm employs a 280-strong workforce.
A merger plan for Antolin to acquire the 50% stake in Silesia Plastic held by family-owned Valencia-based Industrias Alegre was submitted to the German competition authority Bundeskartellamt in January.
The plan got the green light from the authority early in February.
Integration of the Magna Interiors business, which Antolin acquired from Canadian group Magna International for €565m, is now a priority for the Burgos group.
